Animated short. Story pitch 01/27/2010

Soon we are going to start a large project at school were we are to create a animated short in groups or individual. This is my current assignment. Create atleast 2 stories and "sell" them. After some thinking, discussing ideas with Remi and Andreas. Ive decided to recreate two ideas i had before. So here they go along with some images and links to what look i want on the film

My guitar

This is a story about a lonely, talented man. The character design is something like a middle aged, cartoonish man. I want to create a nice, semi-realistic enviorment with a cartoonlike character. But they should blend well together. Like in some of these referance images.

No more coffee!

This idea is a fast phased comedy animation, with a wierd cartoon style. I want the design to be unatural forms. With alot of colour. The first image and the youtube link is how i want the design to look like, but with a mix of image number 2. This is about a middleaged man. He ran out of coffee and struggles to stay awake at the breakfast table. And wierd, twisted and funny things happends to him. Read trough and make your mind about it :)

This is my school tutorial for post production. The tutorial shows you how to make shots in After effects with greenscreen, color correction, masking, effects, sky/fog, simple tracking and more.
Have a look and hopefully you will learn something from it :)

Here is the final result and a brakedown.
Here is the tutorial and the project file along with it. Take the tutorial if you like :)

Before watching this film that went over all my expectations, you should watch this clip, it describes the pandora world. And dont worry, it will not reveal the film story =)   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EE1IvFDrRUs&feature=PlayList&p=9B7747E52B9687CE&index=11&playnext=10&playnext_from=PL

I had to say something about this film. This is with out a doubt the best film ive ever seen! Allmost embarasing to say that Ive allready seen it three times in cinnemas. Two times in 3D. Something that i highly recommend. The 3D experience is alot better and sharper than ever before. Ive seen some films in 3D cinnemas, and they were a bit unsharp and glitshy.
Everything was great about this movie! Not so strange since James Cameron wrote the story and directed the film.
The CG part is so amazing! I have no words about how well its done... insane! Its like nothing ive ever seen before and its so real that i doubt we can look back on this film years from now and say the CG wasnt great.

Here is a link to some avatar video's (playlist). Characters, designs and more great stuff : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLIN5Yvt30Q&feature=PlayList&p=9B7747E52B9687CE&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=2
The creature designs are amazing! So creative and well done. I really liked that Cameron took the chance on creating wierd animals instead of "safe" ones. There are so many great artists on this film. My favorite is Neville Page. Check out his work, its a good inspiration!

Here are some links: Some of Neville design in the Avatar art book: http://www.aintitcool.com/node/43248
Neville's homepage: http://www.nevillepage.com/
And another great artist: http://arttalk.ru/articles/content/interview-with-concept-artist-avatar-scott-patton-eng

Once again, The film was simply beautiful in every way!
